Welcome!
The Department of Armenian Studies at the Pázmány Péter Catholic University is excited to offer its dynamic curriculum in Armenian history, culture and language focusing on the Republic of Armenia, the Armenian diaspora and going beyond. Through courses and public engagements led by our diverse faculty, students have the opportunity to obtain a Master's Degree in History with specialization in Armenian Studies. Our students gain expertise in the current critical debates around national and transnational historiography, visual, translation and diaspora studies and learn Eastern, Western and Classical Armenian. And since the language of instruction is English, students naturally develop their reading, comprehension and writing skills in it.
The Department of Armenian Studies at the Pázmány Péter Catholic University (PPCU) was founded in 2016 and is part of the Institute of History. Since its inception, the department has been developing research and student exchange partnerships with Armenian Studies centers around the world, including in Armenia, the Middle East, Western Europe and the Americas. As a result, the program has been hosting a diverse group of students and plans to do so in the future.
Located at the heart of Budapest, the Department of Armenian Studies at the PPCU connects academics, professors, lecturers, researchers from Armenia, the Armenian diaspora and the world, in order to create an accredited, internationally recognized and cutting-edge education that aims to become a leader in Armenian Studies.
